REFER THIS For detail analysis.I will explain brief in this post as everything remains same as in negative clamper. see below
NEGATIVE CLAMPER
As the name says positive clamper,The circuit remains the same except that "The diode in positive clamper is reversed as shown above " I.eJust flip the diode above to make this circuit negative clamper.
As You know diode conducts in only one direction(In forward biased)
The above diode is forward biased in the negative half cycle of input
Input :
NEGATIVE CLAMPER
Positive Clamper
As the name says positive clamper,The circuit remains the same except that "The diode in positive clamper is reversed as shown above " I.eJust flip the diode above to make this circuit negative clamper.
As You know diode conducts in only one direction(In forward biased)
The above diode is forward biased in the negative half cycle of input
Input :
Considering the diode as ideal (Without considering diode cut-in voltage i.e 0.7v which is across diode in FB)
The capacitor gets charged to maximum voltage 5v in negative half cycle of the input.
So Vout-5v-vin=0
so vout=vin+5
when vin=-5 ,Vout=0
when vin=5 vout =10
Thus output signal is a signal which has voltage levels above 0(positive)
Thus the circuit is called positive clamper
The output wave is clamped one, only after the capacitor is fully charged. So after the capacitor is fully charged i.e during negative half cycle of the input as you can see above, we get a perfect positive clamepd wave.
Note :Positive clamp starts during negative half cycle of the input
